1. Who this notice covers
This notice explains how information is handled when you use a venue's guest WiFi through Ethkm. The venue decides why guest information is used for its WiFi service, and Ethkm processes that information to provide and secure the service.
2. Information we handle
- Your verified phone number and the consent choices you make.
- If you choose Facebook sign-in, the basic profile information returned by Facebook for the sign-in flow, such as your name and account identifier.
- Network and device details needed to grant access, such as device identifiers, IP address, session timing, and controller responses.
- Security and diagnostic records, including sign-in attempts and portal events.
3. Why we use it
- To verify your access request and provide the WiFi session.
- To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and prevent abuse of the network.
- To record your agreement to the WiFi terms and privacy notice.
- To send venue marketing only when you separately choose to receive it.
- To understand aggregate service usage and meet legal obligations.
4. Choice and social media
Marketing consent is optional and is separate from the consent needed to provide WiFi. A venue may invite you to follow its Facebook page, but following is optional and is not technically required for internet access. Facebook processes information under its own terms and privacy policy when you use Facebook sign-in.
5. Retention
Guest access, consent, and portal activity records are scheduled for deletion after 90 days unless the venue changes the published retention period or information must be kept longer for security, dispute resolution, or a legal requirement. Short-lived verification and sign-in records may expire sooner.
6. Sharing and storage
Information is shared only as needed with the venue, Ethkm's service infrastructure, the venue's network controller, verification providers, and Facebook when you choose Facebook sign-in. We do not describe an optional social follow as a verified requirement, and we do not sell guest information through the WiFi sign-in flow.
7. Your choices and requests
After successful verification, the portal can provide a private link for your guest record. Where available, you can use it to export your data, withdraw marketing consent, or request deletion. You may also ask the venue that provided the WiFi for help with a privacy request. Some records may be retained when legally required or necessary to protect the service.
8. Security and updates
Ethkm uses access controls, encrypted stored provider credentials, and limited retention to protect the service. No system can guarantee absolute security. This notice may be updated when the service or legal requirements change; the date and policy version shown at sign-in identify the notice that applied.
